This long blooming, high value wildlife plant is a great addition to the woodland garden. The vibrant yellow flowers brighten up the shady garden. It will form a loose colony by creeping rhizomes (underground runners), therefore it is not meant for small gardens.

Maintenance: Divide every 3-4 years, cut back by 1/2 when it is 24" tall as this will give you a tidier and more floriferous plants (better for pollinators)

Benefits: Keystone plant, pollinators, nectar source, host plant to the silvery checkerspot, painted lady and several moth species, supports specialist bees, birds eat the seeds, juglone tolerant

Companion Plants: Carex pensylvanica (oak sedge), Carex woodii (pretty sedge), Aquilegia canadensis (wild columbine), Solidago caesia (bluestem goldenrod), Heuchera americana (alumroot), Polystichum acrostichoides (Christmas fern)
